This course is for those with little to no experience of wheel throwing. You will be taught the basics of throwing on the wheel, starting with the simple cylinder form. You will also be taught how to turn and glaze your work. Clay, tools, glaze and firing is provided. Please provide your own apron and hand towel.

Each student will be able to keep up to 8 pieces of pottery. If you wish to keep more, the charge will be $15 extra per pot. Pieces will be available for pick up once they are fired, which can 4 to 6 weeks following the final session. You will receive an email once they are ready (please note: pots that are not collected after 3 months of notification will be disposed of due to very limited space).

Schedule:

Session one: learn how to centre clay on the wheel and throw a cylinder

Session two: clay preparation, centre clay and throw a cylinder

Session three: centre clay and throw bigger cylinders, plus how to shape a bowl

Session four: trim/turn the bottom of your work ready for the bisque firing

Session five: glaze your work ready for its final firing
