About the maker

Brighid McCaffrey

Each piece is made with care and intention, blending form and function to create items that feel good in your hands and fit seamlessly into daily life.

  • I’m Brighid, the potter behind Biddy Pots. My journey with clay began in 2017 while living in London, where I first fell in love with the magic of clay. I was fortunate to apprentice with Giulietta Hextall at Crown Works Pottery, where I learned how to run a pottery studio and, more importantly, the art of making functional yet beautiful pieces. Later, I refined my skills in Australia, apprenticing to Steve Sheridan at Wentworth Falls Pottery in the Blue Mountains of NSW.

  • Now based in New Plymouth, New Zealand, I work primarily on the wheel with stoneware, focusing on natural colours, soft curves, and textures inspired by my surroundings. My aim is to create pottery that is not only functional but also sparks small moments of joy in your everyday routine – whether it's wrapping your hands around a favourite mug or setting the table with bowls that show the maker's hand.
